Tripitaka

Tripitaka
   The triple basket, the three collections of canonical works of the southern Buddhists written in the Pali language. These are divided into the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutta Pitaka, and the Abhidhamma Pitaka. In the Sutta Pitaka is contained the Jataka five hundred and fifty birth stories of the Buddha, a collection of fables in the style of Aesop used in Buddhist instruction.
